Ladies and Gentlemen,
On behalf of MOGEC Committee Members I would like to express my sincere thanks, from the bottom of my heart, to all of you for taking time to be at our Hari Raya Open House on the 27th August 2013.
I was elected as President of MOGEC in July this year for the 2013/2015 term. This is our first event for this term and I am very pleased to say the turnout is nothing short of amazing. This is indeed a BRILLIANT START!
In my welcoming speech I officially announced our intention to change the word “CONSULTANT” to “COUNCIL” which means MOGEC will stand for “MALAYSIAN OIL & GAS ENGINEERING COUNCIL” as soon as we meet all requirements set by the Registrar of Societies (RoS).
This name change will allow us to invite a wider range of engineering services provider covering the various phases of engineering (front end and detailed), procurement services, construction management, contracting and commissioning etc. We can expand our membership base that will allow us to develop the required capabilities within this grouping that is required in upstream, mid-stream and downstream sectors. We now have close to 50 companies registered as our members. We look forward to welcoming more members who can offer engineering solutions to this industry.
MOGEC must evolve to serve this dynamic industry. My vision is to develop MOGEC to become “THE CENTER OF REFERENCE, TECHNICAL EXCELLENCE AND INNOVATION”. We will need to work and collaborate with expertise and specialists from all over the globe and bring their technology to Malaysia. We will also work with Malaysian Government Bodies, IOCs, NOCs and other related associations. I will also explore the possibility to make overseas contacts through Embassies and High Commissions based in Kuala Lumpur. We definitely need all the support we can get to overcome the current and future challenges confronting this industry.
We have a lot of work ahead of us and all success starts with a strong VISION. I hope all of you will continue to work with MOGEC to make our vision a reality.
I am sure there were at least a hundred guests at the gathering and the presence of Mr Pramod (PETRONAS VP for Infrastructure, Gas and Utilities) is the icing on the cake. Incidentally he is also the President of the Malaysian Gas Association.
Other guests are equally important. I had the opportunity to speak to representatives from the Canadian High Commissions, MPRC, Sapura Kencana and KOTRA and many more I am not able to mention here. I am sure all of you met many old friends and made new acquaintances. I know I did!
Many guests enjoyed themselves and stayed until the end. Committee members Nazari, Russli and I stayed until 9pm talking to our guests from RAPID Team, Melaka Refinery and Malaysian NPK Fertilizers who couldn’t come earlier due to work commitments.
We will definitely be contacting our guests to invite several of them as speakers at our future meetings. These interactions will also encourage the exchange of information to enhance collaboration and partnerships in future projects.
All the committee members worked hard to make this event a success and I have to mention Bahiyah the lead person behind this gathering who dealt with PNB Derby Park. No one can argue she selected a mouthwatering menu. I am grateful to all of them.
And my special thanks indeed to the 3 ladies (Rahidah, Jennifer and Azee) at the counter who greeted our guests as they entered the venue.
My adrenalin kicked in again when I saw the photos captured by our photographer. Please go here to view the un-edited photos he took and I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I did!
We will update you on future MOGEC events and I look forward to meeting you again in the near future.
